Mother. Wife. Lover. Friend. Sister. Who are you?
It is so easy to get caught up in your 'title' and forget the true you. I think it is so important to allow yourself time for you, especially as a mum. We can get so caught up in dirty nappies, playing with our littles ones and keeping our house tidy, that we leave ourselves to wither. I don't mean physically (although yes, sometimes physically! I think I'm on day 5 of no hair wash..) but more mentally. Have you given yourself a break? Even just 30mins, sitting in a bath? Reading a book? Some of you may scoff at having 30 minutes, but try! Get the husband or your partner to have the kids, find a friend who can take them to a park for a bit - you are just as important as your family, so value yourself and find some time to develop you.
Recently, on a Saturday when my husband was home, I spent time getting ready in the morning. Curled my hair, put on my makeup slowly and then put on a pretty dress. Why? Because I wanted a moment of feeling like me 'pre-baby'.
One dress. Two looks. Starting off with the above - I have always loved that "biker chick" kinda look. But never really been able to pull it off that great ha, but this dress from Tobi was perfect. It's pretty, with a low front and long sleeves, perfect to 'rough' up a bit with some leather. One thing I always find about a white dress is how see through they can be, but not this one - I was actually surprised as I thought I might have to edit out some VPL - but seriously, no editing!
The other style I went for was a bit more "mum" friendly. It was so nice to feel 'feminine' whilst playing with Judah Wild, funny what dressing nice can do!
This is the same dress just paired with an oversized jumper from Cos. No shoes, as I'm home! But if I was to go out I would probably just throw on some white trainers and keep is casual.
The whole day I felt 'pretty' - more than just a mum. Giving time for yourself effects your belief in yourself, so give yourself some time. You are just as important as your partner, your little ones - you need to be the best version of you so they can be the best version of them.
So go run that bath, go find a book, and relax.
We love you,
Jess + Judah Wild x
