I ADORE buying gifts for people. My love language to other people is definitely generosity..which is probably why I buy Judah so much as there's no end to my love for him! But this maternity pay does not allow for my generous spirit which means I need to find other ways to be generous that are financially friendly. This got me thinking, that I can't be alone - that there must be other people that want to bless other people but don't have the money too.
Being generous with your time can be a challenge as it's the one thing that seems to get filled up so quickly - but if you give people time they so appreciate it. Take time to listen - actually listen, with no distractions (no Instagram!). Have fun with your friends, invest in them - be around and available when they most need someone..
Don't hold back. If your friends outfit today is on point, tell her. If she's looking particularly nice, tell her. You don't know what her mornings been like, she may have looked in the mirror and despised herself and your words will uplift her, so be generous with them, but not so generous that your words start to mean nothing. Just think how your day might be changed if someone spoke life and encouragement over you, have the heart to do that for other people..it won't go unnoticed.
So often we can find ourselves praying over our circumstance and our families, whilst knowing the ins and outs of friends lives but too focussed on our own. I LOVE writing my prayers down, when my pen hits the paper my words flow, my heart is poured out and I feel a sense of freedom and peace. I also find it easier to pray for others, partly because I have written a "prayer list" so it reminds me, but also I often feel stupid praying out loud, even on my own (I know, ridiculous) - writing it down is so much easier for me, and I love looking back over my prayer journal and seeing where God has come through and what I need to continue praying for. When your praying for friends you're really doing the journey with them, God may even speak to them through you and what greater gift is there to someone than passing on a word from God?!
So thats my challenge, for myself and you other generous mama's out there - lets be grateful for our little ones that somewhat complete us and take on the challenge of finding different ways to be generous..
Do comment below if you have any other ways you think we can be generous - boy, I need them to stop me from shopping!
Love you guys,
Jess & Judah Wild x
