“All of my life, in every season, you are still God, I have a reason to sing, I have a reason to worship.” I love this line. It speaks of God’s faithfulness and consistency in our lives no matter what may be going on around us. He is steadfast. He’s got this.
Two years ago I had just got engaged and the wedding preparations had begun. This was such an exciting season of my life. However, there was so much to do – wedding planning, job hunting, flat hunting. As I went into this season, I spent time praying with friends and we specifically prayed for what I needed. God amazed me with how He provided for my needs.
I love how God provided for me during that season but I know that sometimes prayers don’t get answered so quickly or so easily and we have to be patient and wait on God. Recently I have been doing a bible study which encouraged me to have the faith to believe for things I had stopped believing for or for things that I thought were impossible. So I began praying for them. 1 day – nothing’s happened, 1 week - nothing’s happened, 2 weeks – nothing’s happened, 1 month – nothing’s happened (and that’s not even a particularly long time! I’m still praying for friends who haven’t been healed after years of prayer). I am often so impatient when praying and find it hard to wait and trust that He’s got this when I don’t see instant results. This quote is such a good reminder of why we pray and how God is always at work, even when we can’t see Him. “We seek God primarily to find Him, not to see Him perform. Sometimes God may prioritise the faith required to continue trusting Him when we don’t get what we asked over the faith required to receive it.” Beth Moore, Believing God.
One of my favourite verses in the bible is Hosea 6:3. “Let us acknowledge the Lord; let us press on to acknowledge Him. As surely as the sun rises, He will appear; He will come to us like the winter rains, like the spring rains that water the earth." Whenever I remember this verse I am reminded that I need to continue believing that He’s got this, even when everything around me is screaming He hasn’t and that I feel I need to take control. Every day that the sun rises, we can trust that He’s not forgotten us, He’s still got this and He will bring the rain we need in our dry season.
